The Institute constitutes a research-based art practice that is dedicated to distributing new forms of political engagement in everyday life through embodied inquiry. The Institute creates software tools and archives, leads public expeditions and creates research performances to investigate topics such as corporate language in public space, the politics of street names, and how to have fun without paying money. The Institute has a fluid membership (currently 22 people, of which 8-12 are active at any given time) which includes artists, software engineers, filmmakers, anthropologists, hula hoopers and historians.
