Abstract Pixel
Unlike other of my digital art works this ‘digital painting’ was the result of development work for an application i.e. there was no conceptual origin for the work. However, a dynamic colour-picker was quickly re-orientated into a ‘digital painting’ of great simplicity (in terms of parameters applied) but great complexity in terms of outcomes. In this regard, AbstractPixel works in a similar way to my Nebula (cross web link?). The parameters are obvious and clearly represented in the output i.e. randomised length, width, position, colour and most significantly opacity. Two hundred and fifty six layers of colour at varying opacity create varying depths of field throughout the ‘digital paintings’.
The pulsed display of AbstractPixel is designed to supply refreshing variety. The optimum mode of display is within an A2 or bigger wall-mounted LCD screen. The output would provide new stimulus each day as it could be set to refresh at a number of different rates i.e. every hour, half-day or day.
The net-based version shown here has an additional quirk of changing every 30 seconds to first one image then quickly to another. Here a mix of fleeting appreciation and sustained viewing is enabled.
